You're Invited to cMoe's 10th Birthday Celebration

September 22, 2016

The Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe) is turning 10 on September 29, 2016. We think that is something to celebrate! Put on your party hat, break out the noisemakers, and get ready to sing "Happy Birthday" at the top of your lungs! The 10th birthday party goes all week long and the community is invited to join cMoe in the celebration!

Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites, a NEW traveling exhibit, will open at 10am on Saturday, September 24th. Visitors can step into the world of their favorite storybooks — building a snowperson and making snow angels in The Snowy Day, tucking in Peter Rabbit, and finding Spot. A Member Family special sneak peek will be offered from 9:00am to 10:00am!

cMoe is also hosting its first cake decorating contest and workshops! Children, hobbyist, and professional adult bakers are creating their best decorated “My favorite thing about cMoe” cake for public judging on Saturday, September 24th. Free cake decorating workshops for children will be offered at 11:00am and 12:00pm with Chef Adam Edwards!

Daily story times at 10:10am and 1:10pm will feature guest readers including 44 News Meteorologist Chad Evans, Bob Jones from Old National Bank, Dr. Maria Del Rio Hoover from St. Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children, Erin Meyer from 14 News, Sheriff Dave Wedding, CEO for a Day, Amelia Perry from Harper Elementary School, Head Coach Jeff Pyle from the Evansville Thunderbolts, Shelley Kirk from WEHT Local 7, Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel from Ivy Tech Community College, Penguin Cha-Cha author, Kristi Valiant, Evie the Litter Dog and more!

In addition to literacy activities, science and art themed pop- up programs will be offered each day at 10:30am,12:30pm, and 2:30pm. Storytime and Pop-up programs are included with general admission and no registration is required.

Then on our 10th birthday, Thursday, September 29th, enjoy $0.10 cent admission for all guests, extended hours until 8pm, dancing in the street with Babaloo Music & Fun at 6pm, community partner fair, Food Trucks and so much MORE!  A Press Conference at 10:30am will unveil NEW exhibit plans for cMoe and an opportunity to meet our 10-year-old CEO, Amelia Perry!

To close out the weeklong celebration, encouraging team work, communication, and play, families are invited to participate in cMoe’s City-Wide Scavenger Hunt on October 1st. The hunt begins at the museum at 10 am and pre-registration at cmoekids.org is encouraged. Families can win prizes like a cMoe Family Membership, a Birthday Blowout, and cMoe swag by following the clues and completing tasks at various stops.
