Harmonie State Park is located 25 miles northwest of Evansville, and a few miles south of the town of Historic New Harmony. A short drive will take you to 3,465 acres of forest with many opportunities. A seasonal gate fee is charged, per vehicle, and annual entrance passes are available at the gate. This pass is good for most DNR properties throughout Indiana.

Here is a list of some of the exciting offerings:

1. Swimming! Harmonie State Park has an olympic sized swimming pool with a water slide and a baby pool. It only costs $3 for admission and a concession stand is also available with affordable snacks.

2. Seasonal Nature Center with activities. The Nature Center is in the old camp store building within the campground. Activities are offered 4 days a week, concentrating on Friday and Saturdays. Open April through October. Join New Harmonie for hikes, crafts, nature themed programs and special workshops. Visit the bird viewing area, displays and live summer resident animals (no fee, this is included in your gate fee). They also offer a state-wide patch program for anyone ages 5 and up, plus the Explore Program for families to earn a pin together.

3.Family Cabins - These modern cabins sleep up to 8 and are a relaxing haven. Bring your own bed linens, pillows, plates, cups, eating utensils. A few pots and pans are supplied. Cabins have a wood burning stove for ambiance in winter months and a gorgeous screened in back porch for all seasons.

4. Biking - Mountain Bike Trails…adding miles every year, the mountain bike trails feature a beginner 4 mile loop and up to 6 miles of intermediate riding. Helmets are required, and closed when trails are muddy. Looking for something less intense? Try the paved bike trail along the campground road to Rush Creek, then 1 paved mile through the woods to the swimming pool. Great for strollers, too, but hilly.

5. Hiking - Seven hiking trails await you ranging from ¾ mile easy to 2.5 moderate. The park is not flat, and each trail has hills of varying degrees. Two trails are located within the campground for easy access.

6. Camping - Modern Campground with 200 sites. No full hook up. Very nice sites, grassy, shady and many quite level. Reservations for camping and cabins can be made online at www.campIN.gov or calling 1.866.622.6746

7. Fishing - Two ponds are available, one great for fishing with kids. Both ponds located within the campground.

8. Boating - Wabash River offers a nice boat ramp and a picnic area with a playground. Bank fishing is also possible but use caution.

9. Horse Trails - Day use only, 4 miles. Bring your own horses.

10. Go on a picnic - Picnic Areas scattered about and are also reservable for events.
