Fall is finally here, and what better way to enjoy it than a trip to the park? One of our favorite places to visit is Howell Park. Located on the westside off Barker Avenue, this park has just about everything you need to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine!
For the kiddos, it has great playground equipment for all ages: swings, slides, and things to climb on. It also offers a nice basketball court and shelter houses with lots of picnic tables that allow you to make a day of it and bring your lunch! You might also want to check out the mini golf course that is open seasonally. My big kid likes to visit the Howell Wetlands, which is just around the corner from the park. We love to walk on the cool trails and bridges, while we hunt for geese, ducks, birds, and other wildlife that visit the wetlands.
As a mom, I favor this park for a couple of reasons. First of all, there’s shade. Lots of trees and covered picnic tables allow me to get out of the sun and still keep an eye on my little ones. The park also has restrooms that are right by the playground equipment. Finally, I love the variety of things the park offers. We never get bored while we are there.
Howell Park is a bustling place that is well used by the community, and it is a great place to enjoy the wonderful fall weather!
