If you are a Christmas fanatic like I am and love to feel like a kid (even if you are far from it), Gaylord Opryland’s A Country Christmas should be at the top of your list this season! My family has made this a family tradition and just this last weekend had a fantastic fifth visit to this amazing resort. Not only will you love seeing all the beautiful décor both inside and out, but there are so many fun activities you could stay all week and never get bored.
Get ready to have a fun filled day with Play All Day passes. These passes truly give you what the name promises, allowing you to play all day! You will be able to explore the ICE! exhibit which is themed for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer this year. You will truly feel the story come to life as you walk through the nine degree winter wonderland (in the cozy knee length parka provided) with the larger than life sized, multicolored ice sculptures and a fantastic ice slide! Next enjoy some thrill seeking at Arctic Plunge Snow Tubing under the outdoor tent. You can race up to four of your friends at a time on the real snow covered tubing hill. Next, if you love to ice skate you can’t miss this! Glacier Glide Ice Skating is a covered outdoor 6,000 square foot rink that all ages can enjoy, my three year old son was even able to experience ice skating for the very first time. The final outdoor activity is Santa’s Snowball Toss. You will get the chance to throw premade snowballs at all kinds of targets, including presents that whiz by! Heading inside, decorate your very own gingerbread house, Rudolph, or Bumble at the Gingerbread Decorating Corner. You will have everything you need to create your very own masterpiece to take home, all while leaving the mess there! Then, head next door to the Opryland Kids Train and take a ride on this beautiful train as it takes you around the track to view all the holiday décor, don’t forget to blow the whistle in the conductor’s car! Lastly, make sure to leave plenty of time for The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt. You will receive a book with clues to find all 10 elves hidden within the resort and once you complete your search you will receive a special prize! This scavenger hunt is the perfect way to explore the beauty of the entire resort.
If you have time left after your Play All Day passes, make sure to check out the final year of How the Grinch Stole Christmas musical in the Grand Ole Opry House. If you love the show, you can complete the experience with Breakfast with The Grinch as well! And don’t forget to visit Santa when he makes his appearance in the Delta Atrium, and even go enjoy Cookies with Mrs. Claus! One of the newest additions this year is the Build-A-Bear Workshop where you children can create a forever friend to always remind them of this lifelong memory.
