As a mom of two children, my favorite days are those spent with all the members of my family laughing, playing, eating, and experiencing new magical adventures. Adventures come in all shapes and sizes and Newburgh is now home to a new family-fun spot that we fell in love with in an instant. The Showplace Newburgh Family Entertainment Center is now open and we had the opportunity to take a tour and learn all about this brand new facility in the local area.
Nearly eight years ago, the team at Showplace Cinemas had a brilliant idea they started brainstorming. This idea was for a complete family fun center that could be the perfect addition to their local theatres. They started looking into this idea and carefully planning its execution. That attention to fun and detail is apparent as soon as you walk in the door. Once you enter the main doors at Showplace Cinemas in Newburgh, your eyes will be automatically drawn to all the new additions on the right side of the building. There is so much to see, do, and fall in love with that we decided to create a list of top five experiences you must check out at the Family Entertainment Center.
1. THE FOOD
The FEC is home to its own restaurant which serves lunch and dinner options. The restaurant’s chef, Clif Duckworth, is talented and extremely friendly. We hope you will say hello and compliment his food options. You can choose from indoor dining in a gorgeous room or outdoor dining space as well. There is also a full-service bar which is placed between the restaurant and gaming area as a bonus for parents.
2. THE GAMES
If you love gaming, you will be delighted with the options at the Family Entertainment Center. As you enter the bright area, you will see an array of gaming experiences (perfect for adults and littles) with 60 arcade games and 3 card kiosks for your convenience. Also, you can stock up on points on your card to redeem for prizes – best part is your points never expire!
3. THE BOWLING
Technology meets family fun in the bowling area at the Family Entertainment Center. There are 12 regular lanes available where you can play a traditional game of bowling or 6 other different types of games like “horse” for bowling. If you have small children, you can request a dinosaur which will help them roll the ball down the lane. It’s tons of fun! Also, the FEC will be home to bowling leagues in the near future!
4. BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS
No family facility would be complete without party rooms for birthday parties, corporate events and so much more. The FEC does not disappoint! The party room can hold 72 individuals or it can be split into two separate rooms, complete with tables, chairs, projector, and screen. All parties have access to a small bar area which is adjacent to the party room (it can be blocked for events not requiring this). You also have access to a private Boutique area that has an additional 8 bowling lanes that are utilized for private events. The staff is extremely friendly and has packages available but is always willing to work with you to make your celebration extra special based on your needs.
5. WHAT’S TO COME
There is so much to see and do already at the FEC, but there is even more to come! The facility is in the process of building a laser tag area that will have 2 levels. Yes, 2 levels that you can enjoy later this year. I had the chance to see the room where it will be housed and it is huge with an incredibly tall ceiling. Also, Showplace Newburgh is planning to open 2 Royal Suites for customers in 2018. They have so many things in store and we can’t wait to watch and see.
