His eyes looked up at me, almost like a puppy awaiting a special treat. His smile quickly turned into a pitiful frown as he desperately asked, "Do we really have to leave?"

Does this sound like a typical outing with your children? Me too. Oddly enough, this was the conversation I had with my husband after an adventure filled day at kidscommons in Columbus, Indiana. Yes, my 35-year-old husband was desperate to say and play after hours of enjoyment on 3 levels of interactive learning and fun. If an adult was having just as much fun (if not more) than children, there must be some magic within these walls. And there is!

Here are 6 reasons why you should plan a trip to kidscommons soon.

1. BUILT WITH KIDS IN MIND

As you enter kidcommons, you will notice instantly that this facility is built not only for adults but kids as well. Everything is designed to create an immersive, hands-on experience. The entrance is proof of that as there are two ways to walk inside the building, depending on your height!

2. CITY BY DESIGN

How is a city created? In this exhibit, your children can explore urban planning and its best with architecture, building blocks, and design opportunities. Everything is hands on you can even describe the city of the future. If you have a child that loves to build with blocks and arches, they will spend hours in this area.

3. ROBOTIC ARM

Dads will love this! This robotic arm will give your youngest (and oldest) family members an exciting challenge. With a joystick and control panel, you can manipulate the mechanical shoulder, elbow, and wrist to pick up blocks and other items.

4. BUBBLE-OLOGY

What kid doesn't love bubbles? In this exhibit, your child can learn all about bubbles and how they are formed. Our kids learned that not all bubbles are round, which was a complete light-bulb moment! You will also love the body bubble where your whole family can see what it's like to stand inside a bubble!

5. EARLY CHILDHOOD GARDEN

We love camping and your child's imagination can come alive in this perfect Indiana spot. Enjoy the wonders of the outdoors, indoors, with a child-size camper, large tree, garden, and so much more! It's the perfect place for imagination and play.

6. EXPLORAHOUSE

Our favorite exhibit at kidscommons was ExploraHouse. How does a house function? This interactive playhouse is the perfect way for all members of your family to learn how a house works from the inside out. As you walk inside the house, you can climb and explore everything from the bathroom and kitchen to the chimney and attic! ExploraHouse is also home to the world-famous giant toilet - the perfect place for a family photo.
