Meet Shortcake!
DOB: 8/2020 Weight: 60lbs
Shortcake is a very athletic, friendly mix breed who spent his younger life in the kennels. He is completely house trained and doesn't need to be crated. He plays and lives well with other dogs. We think he'd be a cat chaser but wouldn't intentionally hurt them. He knows how to sit and with take treats nicely. He seems to do okay for car rides and baths so long as the water isn't cold. Shortcake's only problem is that he grew up in the kennels. No one would take him into foster and therefore he grew up not learning manners. Volunteers try their best whenever they come to the shelter but it's not as good as an actual home. He likes to jump and can get very mouthy and start nipping and chewing on you. He can also be pushy when you have food and he wants it. So we recommend living with kids 12+. He is still young and he is smart so he has the potential to be an amazing dog. He just needs someone to take the time and teach him. His adoption fee is $175. That covers worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a two week trial in which you can borrow items. Our standard adoption fee is $175 ($250 for puppies 6 months and under, or small dogs 15lbs or below) which covers a portion of the dog's vetting costs. The adoption process includes the completion of an application followed by an interview.
