Lowe's and Home Depot have offered their Saturday morning Kids' Workshops for many years. During the pandemic, those in-person workshops were cancelled but both stores continued to offer their kids' building kits for free.
I took advantage of this every month, registering online and then picking up the kits on the designated date. I collected many different kits which I hope to let my grandchildren build over the coming months. All four grandkids are at an age where they could handle following simple instructions and safely use a hammer.
This year for Easter, I included a bird house kit in my granddaughters' basket along with their very own child-size hammer. My son took advantage of a rainy Saturday to let them build. Two eight year olds and a six year old were able to follow the directions and use their hammer to build their very own birdhouse!
Both stores offer their workshops and kits every month. To register for either a workshop or to pick up a kit, go to Lowe's Kids Workshops or Home Depot Kits.
