Transition From Summer To Fall At The YMCA

By Lisa Verkamp July 8, 2023

The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana wants you and your family to finish your summer STRONG and make a healthy transition back to school. To prepare, here are a few ways you can make your end-of-summer and back-to-school transition a success!

(1) End Your Summer Strong with Sports

We’ve been keeping kids active and engaged all summer, and the fun continues in July. Kids need 60 minutes of active play a day! There’s still time to try something new with a sports camp at the Y. We’ve still got Archery Camp, Basketball Camp, Tiny Tucks Camp, Cheer Camp, Gymnastics Camp, Ninjanastics Camp, NERF Battle Camp, First Kicks Soccer Camp, Soccer Camp, and Sports of All Sorts Camp still to come this summer.

There’s still time to register to keep your child going and growing this summer. Visit www.ymcaswin.org/seasonal-sports-camps to register your child today!

(2) Communicate Routines and Expectations

Be prepared for back-to-school season by making sure you have everything on your child’s classroom supply list, reset those summer bedtimes well before the big day and communicate any changes in routine with the entire family.

(3) Enroll in Before & After School Programming Today

When school is out, the Y is in! Our Y is the largest school-age childcare provider in the region. With Before & After School care at 20 sites across Vanderburgh, Posey, Warrick, and Gibson countries, our Y wants to ensure all children are taken care of before or after their school day. Visit www.ymcaswin.org/before-and-after-school-care to see if your school is available or to register your child today!

(4) Expand Your Social Sphere

As a community center, the Y brings together people of all backgrounds to learn, grow, and thrive. We are more than a gym. We’re a safe place for people to connect and engage. With focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, we provide the knowledge, inspiration and support for our community to stay active, connect with others, and live well.

Membership at the Y is all-inclusive and a great value with access to both Evansville locations (the Ascension St Vincent YMCA and the Dunigan Family YMCA) with state-of-the-art wellness centers and equipment, hundreds of group exercise classes per week, indoor pools, indoor tracks, Child Watch service (for youth 6 wks - 6 yrs), Kids Zone (for youth 5-12 yrs), and member discounts & early registration for paid programming including youth sports, swim lessons, and child care services.

At the Y, there’s no contracts, no joining fees, and no annual fees so you can join anytime or cancel at any time. As a mission-based nonprofit organization, we also offer financial assistance to those in need. Learn more about membership, programs, and our community impact at www.ymcaswin.org.
