It's November. I hope your Halloween was sugar-filled fun, getting everyone ready for the NEXT holiday--Thanksgiving! This month always makes me aware of what I have to be thankful for: my family, especially my kids and grandkids; a job I love; and recently an adventure involving moving from our home of 32 years and beginning a new venture. I'll talk more about that later.
What are you thankful for? Is Thanksgiving a day of reflection, football, food, family? What traditions do you have? Through the years I've noticed so many different ways to celebrate this holiday in our community. From 5K's to free meals provided by different groups, we are truly blessed to have so many resources in our corner of Indiana. One memory I have of my mother is her being very generous. Every year she would try to be aware of someone who was struggling and might appreciate a meal at Thanksgiving. Several times she included me in the giving--going to the store, finding everything needed for a turkey dinner, delivering to someone's door, feeling that awesome tug at the heart when tears came all around, grateful hugs and stories of how this delivery would make a huge difference. Those memories mean a lot to me.
I am so thankful to be connected to Macaroni KID Evansville. I'll be starting my fourth year as publisher soon and I can't imagine not doing this every day. The people I get to meet and talk to along with learning about so many great groups and businesses here in our area, makes me want to go on forever.
Here's wishing you a November filled with family, food, friends and fun!
