This month finds me and my husband in a situation we've never been in before. We sold our home this summer after five days on the market. A relief, yes. But then the realization that we can't get into our new house until mid-December. So, for the past few weeks we've been living with my daughter and her family. A little stress where six dogs are now cohabitating (their four and our two), shower and sleep schedules, who's cooking dinner this week? and other small every day details. All in all, we've survived and learned a lot about each other. I think we're all ready for us to be in our own home, five minutes away. But this has shown me so much about her family and her daily life.
Have you ever had a situation where the holidays might take a back seat? Juggling everyday life that's slightly or majorly different while still trying to make a to-do list, plan who's coming when, etc.? I keep telling myself to focus on the reason for the season. Something my mom felt so strongly about. She even had a bumper sticker with that very phrase on it. Remember that everything will fall into place (or not). There might be boxes everywhere but we'll adjust. Just keep breathing.
I hope you check out the healthy holidays article on our website. Truly some great advice on not only taking care of that to-do list, but taking care of YOURSELF. There are so many activities out there, most of them free, to give yourself a break and focus on fun for you and/or your kids. Take advantage of as many has you can!
My wish for all of you this holiday season is peace. In your home, your heart and in your family. Count your blessings everyday. Just keep breathing.
