Here we are. For many families, August marks the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. Are you ready?
For me, it's a bit different this year. For the first time in my 40+ years career, I'm not going back to school. I started as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher and through the years changed jobs but never left my true love--working with children. So for the first time, I'll be home on the first day. In my heart I'll be thinking of all the years spent seeing students every day, working either in one building or many buildings, and seeing the great things offered to children in our corner of Indiana.
When I took over as publisher of Macaroni KID Evansville five years ago, it was part of my plan to stay active with children and families. I've not once regretted it. I continue every day to find out all the resources available in our community and beyond. The Owensboro/Henderson/Madisonville site came to me earlier this year because it made sense that I should see what's going on south of the river. So many families either live north of the river and commute south or vice versa.
I would love to find out about resources and businesses that are out there every day supplying children and families with either resources or services or products they want and need. As the school buses hit the road and schools fill with students of every age, know that I'm thinking of the children, families, teachers and everyone who make children their priority. I'll definitely be there in spirit.
