Description
At the GEM, MINERAL, & FOSSIL SHOW you will discover rocks from all over the world, get to see them close up, and have the opportunity to bring some home for your collection. This event is hosting over 20 Gemstone Vendors from across the country and includes a booth for the Evansville Lapidary Society, and a booth for it's own special Junior Rockhound group. The Junior Rockhounds are made up of local kids with an interest in learning about Geology and rocks. Their booth will feature games, hands on activities, displays, and fossils collected by the group on field-trip excursions. All sales and donations at this booth go directly back into funding future activities for the kids.
Find every rock related item you could imagine: Beads, Geodes, Jewelry, Carvings, Meteorites, Cutting Rough, Faceted Stones, Slabs, Fossils, Mineral, Crystals, Specimens, Cabochons, Tumbled Stones, and much much more. On-site gemstones mounted while you wait, posters, Geology related items, crack your own geode, dinosaur bone, petrified wood, and the list goes on. You will also find:
* working Lapidary demonstrations showing the use of 6 grinding wheels used to shape and polish a stone from start to finish,
*hourly door prizes,
*silent auctions,
*raffles- with an opportunity to win a large cathedral Amethyst crystal display,
*private collector's exhibits including the Arrowheads and Artifacts display which also features interactive learning and an opportunity for you to bring in and get help identifying your artifact finds,
*Ben E. Clement's Mineral Museum from Marion, KY, and a
*285 pound geode.
*Fluorescent Mineral Display, come see how minerals can look different by viewing them in different light.

This is a family friendly event and kids get a free tumbled stone from the Evansville Lapidary Society booth.
